Andrew Sama, MD, FACEP
Chief Executive Officer, Progressive Emergency Physicians
Dr. Sama serves as the founding Chief Executive Officer of Progressive Emergency Physicians. Prior to serving as the CEO of Progressive, Dr. Sama was primarily affiliated with the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System. He initiated the Department of Emergency Medicine at North Shore University Hospital and assisted in the creation of the North Shore Long Island Jewish Emergency Medicine Service Line in which Dr. Sama led over 300 physicians, fellows, and residents throughout 16 locations. During his tenure with the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System, Dr. Sama was the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the North Shore Long Island Jewish Medical Group.
Dr. Sama has been a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) for more than 25 years. In October 2007, he was elected to the Board of Directors of National ACEP, and re-elected in 2010. He served as the Secretary-Treasurer of ACEP from 2009-2010, Vice President from 2010-2011, President-elect from 2011-2012, President from 2012-2013 and Chairman of the Board from 2013-2014. Currently, Dr. Sama and his fellow leaders of Progressive have assembled a team of highly talented physicians and mid-level providers to provide Progressive’s patients with the highest quality and excellence in emergency medicine.
David Kim, MD, MBA
Managing Director, Progressive Emergency Physicians
Dr. Kim is currently serves as the Managing Director for Progressive Emergency Physicians. Progressive, founded by Dr. Kim in 2013, provides its hospital clients with healthcare administration, management, staffing, and consulting services. Dr. Kim’s excellence in operations and dedication to emergency medicine has been a driving force behind the success of Progressive.
Prior to Progressive, he founded Premier Care Urgent Care in 2007, acting as the Chief Executive Officer from its inception through 2014. In 2013, Premier Care merged with CityMD to become CityMD Urgent Care, which has become the leading urgent care network in the Metropolitan area. To date, there are over 60 locations nationwide. Dr. Kim currently sits on the Board of Directors of CityMD and acts as the Executive Vice President of Business Development.
John Mathew, DO, FACOEP
Chairman of Emergency Medicine at St. Joseph HospitalDr. Mathew currently serves as the Chairman of the Emergency Department of St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, New York. He earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Internship and Residency in Emergency Medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx. Prior to serving as the Chairman at St. Joseph Hospital, Dr. Mathew served as the Associate Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at the Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center from 2010 through 2012 and as the Associate Director of Emergency Medicine at Franklin Hospital.
